Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I grew up a competitive soccer player. An ankle injury ended my soccer “career” at 17. It wasn’t until about 5 years later that I was convinced by a friend to give CrossFit a try. My first class was in February 2010 at Music City CrossFit in Nashville, TN. Three months later I moved to Atlanta to work as office manager at CrossFit North Atlanta. My love for the sport of fitness only grew from there. I’ve participated in the Open, trained with the CockDiesel games team and participate in the Atlanta Affiliate League.

CrossFit has been a game changer for me. It brings out my inner athlete. There is nothing more satisfying than working your ass off on a skill or movement, conquering it and then setting a new goal. I also love the community and have made friends with people I would never have crossed paths with if it weren’t for CFNA.

Why did you become a trainer?

For the LuLuLemon discount. Kidding… but it doesn’t hurt. 😉

After 3 years of learning and growing as a CrossFit athlete, I wanted to dive deeper and learn as much as I could. I wanted to better my craft but, mostly, I wanted to be able to help those around me become better as well.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I’ve always enjoyed sports and being active my whole life. I started lifting weights in college in 2002 and only weighed 145 lbs and couldn’t do a single pullup. I started exercising regularly and gaining muscle mass. In 2012, I felt like I was plateauing in my fitness. I had no motivation. I joined CrossFit North Atlanta, and the rest was history. I went from not being able to squat 225lbs to being able to squat 325lbs, but the crazy thing is I weigh almost exactly the same weight as when I started! I am currently the Head Coach, and I love being able to encourage and motivate people every day in becoming a stronger and healthier person.

Why did you become a trainer?

I genuinely love helping people achieve their goals, whether it be in the gym or life in general. I’ve never been the strongest or most athletic; therefore, I enjoy encouraging others in their own fitness journeys. One of my strengths is personal mentoring, so I feel like being a Crossfit coach is a perfect avenue for that.
